Payroll and Human Resources Information System (HRIS) Manager

The Payroll and HRIS Manager will perform a range of duties including processing semi-monthly payroll and daily employee data, preparing reports, and developing functionality within the HRIS system. The Payroll and HRIS Manager will ensure that all HR-related systems are regularly updated and compliant with labor regulations. They will also collect, compile, and prepare HR data, metrics, and statistics for analysis. The Payroll and HRIS Manager will oversee the organizations payroll functions, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or other related discipline. At least five (5) years of HRIS and multi-state payroll processing experience. CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborates with executive leadership and HR staff to identify system improvements and enhancements; recommends and implements solutions
  • Compiles or assists with the development of complex data reports, summaries, and logs for senior executives and HR staff
  • Export regular and ad hoc reports from our internal databases (for example, state tax reports, headcount and turnover reports, pay equity analysis, EEO reporting)
  • Collects and compiles HR metrics and data from a variety of sources including the human resource information system (HRIS) and payroll outputs, management and employee surveys, employment records, government labor statistics, competitor’s practices, and other sources
  • Compiles data and statistics for trends and patterns with attention to recruitment, hiring practices, motivation, turnover, and compliance with employment laws and regulations
  • Serves as lead representative and liaison between HR, information services, external vendors, and other stakeholders for HRIS design and implementation projects
  • Ensures system compliance with data security and privacy requirements
  • Maintains knowledge of trends and developments in HRIS providers, vendors, and technology
  • Knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, GL balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes (all states)
  • Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions
  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, benefits and changes to pay rates
  • Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices
  • Record and process employee information including annual leave, salaries and working hours
  • Maintain data integrity in systems by regularly analyzing data
