Insurance Business America (IBA) has named Captive Resources' Chairman, CEO, and Co-Founder, George Rusu, to its Hot 100 list. The annual list recognizes a variety of industry professionals, including rising stars helping to transform and move the industry forward with new outlooks and innovative forward-thinking, and seasoned veterans helping to guide organizations through challenging times.
According to IBA, Hot 100 honorees have at least three things in common: a can-do attitude in the face of adversity, a solid understanding of themselves and the industry, and a willingness to extend a helping hand to the next generation of insurance professionals.
The honor was Rusu's second in as many months from the IBA. In November, Rusu joined an esteemed group of insurance veterans in the 2021 class of IBA's Hall of Fame, which honors executives, innovators, and entrepreneurs who have risen from various backgrounds to establish themselves as leaders in the insurance industry.
"Rather than compete with others in the area of conventional insurance that already had great solutions, I looked for an area in our industry that could be improved," Rusu said of the honor. "That led me to the area of group captives, which seemed underserved by our industry. I then was fortunate enough to surround myself with a great team of people, far smarter than me, who helped me develop the area of group captives to solve our members' needs. If you can solve the problems of others, you will always be needed."
From the IBA: "Starting in August, Insurance Business America invited insurance professionals from across the country to nominate their most exceptional leaders for the seventh annual Hot 100 list. After receiving hundreds of nominations, IBA narrowed the list down to 100 movers and shakers whose contributions have helped shape the insurance industry over the past 12 months. From innovators at the forefront of change to leaders who are transforming the way the industry does business, this year's Hot 100 list represents the best the industry has to offer."
Captive Resources provides mid-market companies with the ability to become insurance company owners rather than insurance buyers and lower their total cost of risk. We do this through the creation, development, and oversight of member-owned group captive insurance companies. We currently consult to 42 group captives with 5,400-plus member-companies and more than $3 billion in annual premium. We support every aspect of the captives we advise, from claims advocacy to operational oversight, risk management, financial services, regulatory compliance, investment services, and more.
